PROTO GOMEZ is a ground-floor storefront exhibition space located in the Two Bridges neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. PROTO GOMEZ exhibits new work in all media by emerging and mid-career artists from the NYC region as well as artists from across the United States and as far as Asia, Africa, and Australia.

Our open calls and residency programs are a collaboration between PROTO GOMEZ and Project Studios.

Project Studios occupies 30,000 sq. ft. of space housed within the historic R. Neumann and Co. leather factory complex in Hoboken, New Jersey. The building is a short ride from Manhattan, Jersey City, and Newark via the PATH. It is also close to public transportation such as the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail or NJ Transit via the Lackawanna Terminal in Hoboken. The building also has a parking lot for tenants and visitors. The studios occupy three full floors of the main building at Neumann Leathers with additional spaces in the buildings at 66 Willow Ave. and 321 Newark Street making us the largest tenant in the complex. Project Studios has private and semi-private studios for artists and other creatives, music rehearsal rooms, and shared shops for ceramics, photography, printmaking, and metal working.

Project Studios supports the arts using a small business model rather than a sales or grants model because we believe that art can be profitable for individuals within their own studio practice. This is achieved by providing inexpensive studio space, shop space, shared workspaces, and exhibition opportunities so that artists can function as professionals even without substantial income.
